After the self-produced live album Cinemanemico, two years later, the Nichelodeon return with their first studio album, Il gioco del silenzio/The Game of Silence, produced by Lizard.
The record, for a total duration of over 78 minutes, consists of 12 tracks (including Apnea, winner of the fourteenth Review "Omaggio a Demetrio Stratos") written over 12 years, and collects the studio versions of four tracks of the previous work and eight new songs.
Extempore intuitions and removed, re-read songs, turned over with childlike curiosity and play, and then carefully reassembled.
All of that happened within a year during which a completely renovated lineup has come up, including acoustic and electric strings and woodwinds, percussion, toy and ethnic instruments, theremin, field recordings and noise machines.
A work that draws on an even bigger experiences and moods background than the Cinemanemico one. From Central European theater songs to jazz and contemporary classical music, noise, psychedelic music, world music, electronics and sound design; the new avant-garde.
Twelve stories, each with its own story, somewhere between conflict and redemption, the squaring of the circle at the end of a long path, a new beginning, the urgency of communication in suspense between scream and whisper.
Many guests take part in the record: guitarists Luciano Margorani and Claudio Pirro, singers Carola Caruso and Estibaliz Igea, composers of electronic music Antonello Raggi and Stefano Delle Monache, multi-instrumentalists Luca Olivieri and Marco Tuppo, painters Valentina Campagni and Marco Bettagno, graphic designer Paul Rosset and photographer Andrea Corbellini. All to give shape to the product of a genuine community, faithful to the idea of a "chemical laboratory dedicated to audio, visual and performing crafts."
